Dhir Patel worked through his opponents with masterful precision securing the Gold Medal in U12 Boys Singles at the Ontario Junior B Championships. Although pushed hard from time to time he stayed in control throughout winning all of his matches two games to zero. The only time he faltered was his very last game winning 24-22. Being that close to the Gold made him a little nervous but he still pulled off some great defensive shots and then moved his opponent out of position to land the final shot.
Dhir has worked very hard all year but especially over the last month when it really counted and it showed in his accuracy and choice of placement to keep his opponents always struggling to get to the bird.
Going into the tournament we felt that if there was to be Gold to be won it would be in Doubles with his partner Brett Reynolds. Unfortunately the boys came up a little bit short losing a very tight struggle to a KCBC (Kevin Cao B.C.) pair in the semifinals 21-17 in the 3rd game. The KC pair went on to win the Doubles event.
Both Brett and Dhir had a great season on the Provincial B Circuit and look forward to next year!
